Strength and conditioning (S&C) is not just living big weights. its about preparing your body to handle whatever it is you want it to do. In the world of endurance sport, that’s about being able to repeatedly and constantly perform a movement efficiently and without risk of injury.
The video below going into more detail on this, but here are the key points:
- Build a buffer against injury. If you are stronger, your body will be able to tolerate more load. allowing you to train harder
- Building efficiency. By increasing the strength capacity of a movement/muscle, it will not have to work as hard for the same output. Simply put. Go faster for less effort.
- Condition the body to be able to repeat these moment patterns over and over. Rounds of strength/mobilty exercises combined with cycling will reinforce stronger, more efficient movement patters.
